New York employers must include pay rates in job ads under new state law

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Help-wanted advertisements in New York will have to disclose proposed pay rates after a statewide salary transparency law goes into effect on Sunday, part of growing state and city efforts to give women and people of color a tool to advocate for equal pay for equal work.Employers with at least four workers will be required to disclose salary ranges for any job advertised externally to the public or internally to workers interested in a promotion or transfer.Pay transparency, supporters say, will prevent employers from offering some job candidates less or more money based on age, gender, race or other factors not related to their skills. Advocates believe the change also could help underpaid workers realize they make less than people doing the same job.A similar pay transparency ordinance has been in effect in New York City since 2022. Now, the rest of the state joins a handful of others with similar laws, including California and Colorado.“There is a trend, not j...

A hot day in Tampa for Sunday's Chicago Bears gameEven though it's likely to be wet here tomorrow, the Bears would probably rather be playing at Soldier Field than Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.  Scattered showers and possibly thunderstorms are possible at kickoff.  Showers become likely later around halftime.  With all the humidity, heat index values will make it feel like around 100º.Last week of Astronomical SummerAstronomical Fall starts just before 2 AM in Chicago next Saturday Sept. 23, 2023At an equinox, the sun appears directly above Earth’s equator. Shocker! Stanford loses to Sac State

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 16:05:15 GMT

STANFORD – Troy Taylor’s home opener as Stanford coach was spoiled by his former team.Sacramento State scored a 49-yard touchdown with 1:32 remaining and won 30-23 at Stanford Stadium. The loss by the Cardinal (1-2) showed the depths to which the program has fallen. The only other time the programs met, Stanford won 52-17 in 2010 with Andrew Luck throwing TDs to Doug Baldwin and Zach Ertz. This time, Stanford was kept out of the end zone for the final 43 minutes against an FCS opponent that seemed to match the Cardinal talent-wise and had a 448-387 edge in yardage.Taylor had spent the previous four seasons as coach of the Hornets (3-0), who won their fourth-ever game against an FBS team. The Cardinal played two QBs, with Ashton Daniels completing 4 of 7 passes for 69 yards in the first half and Justin Lamson completing 7 of 17 passes for 138 yards in the second half. Both QBs threw damaging interceptions, with Daniels throwing a pick in the end zone and Lamson throwing a pass into traff...
