Anne Arundel Co. power outage affects more than 70,000 More than 72,000 homes and businesses in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, were without power Thursday afternoon.Nick Alexopulos, spokesperson for utility company BGE, said an equipment failure at 3:15 p.m. impacted a large part of the county, knocking out power for more than 72,000 customers.As of 7:30 p.m., more than 34,000 homes and businesses were still out.Annapolis Alderman Brooks Schandelmeier told WTOP the cause was either a blown transformer or a circuit trip at the Cedar Park substation.Schandelmeier said most of the outages are affecting the Annapolis peninsula, including the City of Annapolis. Queen’s top 3 worldwide in 2023 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings Queen’s University has once again claimed a top ten spot among universities vying to advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs were created by UN member nations in 2015 in an effort to guide global action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure shared peace and prosperity for all people by 2030.Times Higher Education (THE) began tracking universities for their own Impact Rankings in 2019 and in 2023 tallied 1,591 universities from 112 different countries.
